Workshop description:
Participants will be introduced to the anatomy of cervical muscles and the mechanism of action of botulinum toxin type A (introductory lecture). Special emphasis will be placed on the demonstration of muscles most commonly targeted in patients with cervical dystonia, using ultrasound (US) guidance.
In the practical part of the workshop, target muscle identification and recognition will be demonstrated on volunteers, after which participants will have the opportunity to independently evaluate cervical musculature with the use of an ultrasound device. In addition, participants will be actively involved in the preparation of botulinum toxin A, under the professional supervision of the workshop facilitators.
The final segment will include clinical assessment of a patient with cervical dystonia, selection of target muscles for injection, dose recommendation, and the application of botulinum toxin A itself. The injection procedure will be performed under ultrasound guidance, with active participation of the attendees, supported by continuous expert supervision and mentorship from the workshop facilitators.
