Workshop description:

Proper infant handling, or “baby handling”, refers to the way of interacting with an infant during most everyday activities such as lifting, carrying, feeding, and dressing. This approach aims to support the child’s proper development and is most often applied in high-risk infants and children with developmental difficulties, as a complement to classical therapeutic procedures and interventions.

Infant handling is closely related to the mechanisms of postural control observed in typical child development. Developmental milestones guide the approach, which is always individually adapted to the child’s therapeutic goals.

The workshop is intended for all professionals working with children, from the earliest neonatal period onward. It will include a theoretical introduction to the concept of “baby handling” with key developmental milestones, as well as a practical component focusing on handling techniques with infants.
